Iya Ademidemeji

To My Iya

Ya know I look up to you, even though I havent met you in person. I have never been in the presence of such a Strong, Intelligent, Diverse, Black woman. And a woman that is caring, giving, and nuturing to all. Your passion about your faith...the obstacles that you overcame, your success. Just reading your webpages, threads, and talking with you over the phone has been helping me alot. You motivate me, uplift me in so many ways. For the first time in my life, I actually feel like someone out there understands me, truly cares about my well being. These is very hard to come across someone like you. Especially an older woman. Oh, and your Wisdom!!! I kinda been latching onto ya spirit lately, seeing where it takes me. I feel safe, knowing that your close by. Ive noticed the adversity you have been receiving. I know you have to put on layers and layers of skin, to put up with all of that negativity. It is a test of how I see it. I know it will be a day, when I will have to face the same resistance. By reading, and watching you keep your composure, defending your faith, standing strong..I admire you alot. And the way you attack back, is the killah, because you dont seem shakened at all.. and ya come back with more knowledge, for their butts. I admire the fact, that even though you hold a very high position, you still allow yourself to be human. In other words, you can relate to people young and old, men and women, rich or poor. You are a beautiful, loving being..a inspiration to all Black Women. Iya, you truly are special!! Felt I should dedicate this poem to you, to show my gratitude.

Out Of Darkness, there is Light

Intense with fear Darkness all around me. I felt she was near But her soul had not found me.

Confusion filled my head Tears flood my pillow When nothing could be said A path came to follow.

I believed in the Supreme Being, who knew where I belonged. It would only take patience, till I find my way back home.

Soon darkness had enraged me Who was I to trust? No one had the nerves to be Understanding Loving as such.

We met in my dreams Although I never saw her face. What did this all mean? I felt her passion and her grace.

A priestess is what they told me she would be of assistance If I wanted to live in peace I would also encounter resistance.

Her strength and her will encouraged me to focus. She was allowing me to heal when noone else would notice.

I felt I already knew her By the pain we both shared She came out of Nowhere To doubt, I never dared.

She went before me Battling all our enemies Of course she had to fall To bring life back to me.

Brave and Unbreakable She is like a fortress. Wise and loveable A sincere beautiful Priestess.

Ademide is her name, Iya is how I greet her She could have all the fame but she'd rather bring us together.

Her purpose defines the woman that she is She crosses all lines to bring back harmony and bliss.

Ade, Im very glad to meet you Happy you came into my life Without your tears and struggle I would have not seen the light. Love Ola Copyright2003 Olakuoto All Rights Reserved
